GRACIE Adopted June 2010

Gender: Female
Age: 12
Special Needs (sorta)

Gracie is one of the sweetest springers. Gracie came into foster care when her Dad moved to South America. Even though he wanted to come back to her, at the age of 12 that isn't realistic, so she went up for adoption. She now lives with one of our favorite foster families in her forever home.

Gracie is very sweet and incredibly mellow. She spends much of her day sleeping, which also makes her an excellent dog to snuggle with. From her foster mom: "Occasionally when I'm at my desk she comes and puts her head on my lap to let me know she wants a little scratching or head patting. After a few minutes of that she happily trots off and falls back asleep. She really is just so sweet." She loves walks and is very easy to walk - she has a slow pace and doesn't pull on the leash. She doesn't show any signs of arthritis or hip problems and can navigate stairs with surprising agility.

She is blind, but she's been blind for most of her life and it doesn't bother her in the least or slow her down and her foster mom really hesitates to have that classify her as a "special needs" dog. In her younger days she was still able to chase & catch squirrels despite being blind! But as a mellow senior she much prefers a good nap in the sun now. She is good with other dogs and probably with cats. She'd probably be okay with well behaved children as well as long as they are respectful. As with many people in the Northwest, she does have allergies, though those are easily managed with monthly allergy shots.

JACKSON (OR) ADOPTED 3/20/2010

15 MONTHS OLD
NEUTERED
TRI-COLORED: BLACK/WHITE/TAN

Jackson was given to his current owner but she is disabled and he has proved to be too much for her. He is a young, energetic, typical Springer. He needs someone who can handle a bouncy dog, has a large fenced yard, and is home much of the time. He is current with shots and healthy. He is housebroken and good in the house, but isn't left for more than a couple of hours at a time. He was escaping from the original owner's home when left alone all day.

Jackson is good with kids, even the owner's toddler granddaughter. He's bouncy at first, but settles down. He's good with their cats, but has gotten into tussles with her older dogs, and would probably do better with an experienced Springer owner as an only dog. He is very affectionate, a lover and a lap-dog. He loves his toys, and always has a bone or a toy in his mouth.

Jackson found his forever home in less than a week

SaraLee: ADOPTED

About 8 years old
Spayed
Liver/White
Good with kids
Unknown with toddlersz
Unknown with cats

Saralee was from Klamath Falls, Oregon, and like the other girls who came from there, she is very sweet, reliable, and cuddly, and gets along with other dogs (at least with a little friend-Yorkie). Saralee's owner has died, so she came into foster care. She's good on leash, and fine in the house when the owner is out. She loves to play fetch and run at the park. All in all, a loving and sweet girl.

Sara is another lucky girl. Her mom and dad live in Port Angeles and watch the ferry go back and forth to Victoria BC.

GiGi is now Sunny and is adopted
7 years old
liver/White

Gigi was removed from her home when her owner shot his two pit bulls who wouldn't stop breeding. She was thin, and had an enormous cyst on her side (like a small grapefruit) as well as a couple of smaller ones. Columbia County humane society called us, and rescue members in the area took her to the vet and we had her cysts drained. When they looked to see if she'd been spayed, the vet found that she had been, but he also removed a couple of small mammary tumors. (Dogs usually recover from mammary tumors. ) Those same great members kept her until they could drive her all the way to Sublimity to her foster mom.

Gigi is a pretty girl, "nicely marked" and very, very reliable and sweet. She got along great with her foster brothers. Her foster mom got a kick out of them at dinner. The boys take turns at the food bowl, take a mouthful, go in the living room to chew while the other brother gets a bite. Gigi had it all figured out. She watched the way dinner happened at her new place, and got in line, took her turn. She also found the doggie door and is happy to be using that too.

She's in a wonderful home in Bend, Oregon with her new sister CeCe, also adopted from OSR.
