BEBE

Age: 6 years
Spayed Female
Small (field bred?)
Loads of fun and very good

Bebe's family is overwhelmed with tiny children and an upcoming move. She came into foster care rather than going to a shelter.

Bebe is gentle, good with other dogs, and playful. She's active and thrives on attention. She'd appreciate a good throwing arm; foster mom hasn't been able to wear her out yet when throwing the beloved STICK.

Bebe is good in the house. Owner said she was having bladder control problems, but there's been no problem at her foster home. She loves to go outside.

Bebe's new home has a fenced yard and an owner who's fine throwing that stick!

Daisy: ADOPTED 8/26/07

Age: between 3 & 5 years
Stray from Multnomah County Animal Control
Spayed

High energy but very sweet

Daisy is a spayed young female who is full of energy and joy! She throughly enjoys the swimming pool and loves to swim upstream in the Willamette (against the current... it's her endless pool). Daisy also loves to fetch the ball and bring it back The leash training is going very well; she's learning to be the one being walked, not the one in charge of the walk.

Daisy's new daddy runs; she has a stay at home mom. We know she'll bring them lots of fun and happiness!

CHEROKEE ADOPTED!!

Male
Size: Small
Age: 13 years
Color: L/W
Location: Beaverton, Oregon

We've known Cherokee since he was born. Really! His senior owner was a good friend of the family and tried to find an assisted living place where they could be together. They found the place, but Cherokee had a hard time adjusting to just going out on a leash, and when Mama fell and cracked her pelvis, it became clear that the situation was not going to work.

Cherokee is show-bred (and has show points). He gots along fine with the resident dogs in his foster home even though he's been an only dog for his whole life, and is doing well with the dogs in his new, forever home. We know he will enjoy Lucky and Colleen and also the big fenced yard. He just wants to sleep at his new "parents" feet or by their bed and get scratches and loves.

Cherokee the Puppy

GRACIE Adopted!

Female
Size: Small

Age: about 10
Color: L/W
Location: Albany, Oregon

Gracie is very merry and sweet with all people except she barks at the mailman. Gracie is good with other dogs, but not cats and she’s killed rats in the back yard before. Gracie's OK with kids but has no toddler experience.

Gracie's 94 year old mama had a fall and has died. On the Thursday before she came to us, the family took Gracie into the nursing care center to say goodbye to her mama. Gracie got on the bed and leaned against mom– Gracie was very quiet, not barking and excited as she used to be when greeting Doris. It was as if Gracie understood things had changed – Doris had become drifty and not fully connected to the world. The family says, "I hope that sweet little dog is settling in for you."

Gracie likes to play with tug rope toys. She is quite small, healthy, and very sweet. She found a new, retired mom and dad to share her love with.

MISSY adopted!

Age: about 7 years
Spayed female
Liver and White

Missy's mom is moving into an assisted living facility that only allows one small dog. The pug got to move, Missy needed to find a home. She's lived with this mom, who got her from a friend, for about two years. She's pretty good with kids, but hasn't lived with them and can get overexcited at play.

Missy is a good dog, will listen and is a good companion. She's active, loves to play catch, but doesn't bring the ball back!

Missy was first taken in by the grandkids who found her a good home.

TERA Adopted!

6 years old
Spayed female
Liver/White with some dots

Tera was turned in to the SW Washington shelter by a family who felt they had way too little time to spend with her. Even when she was sad to be in the shelter, she could turn on the charm for the picture.

Foster dad says she was happy to meet his Maggie (who looks a lot like Tera) and that there wasn't much room in the bed with both of them hogging the covers. Tera can sit and knows basic manners. She does pull a little on the leash. She is reliable alone in the house and able to use the doggie door, totally housebroken. She's Ok with other dogs, cats, and kids, even younger kids. She love to play fetch.

Tera will be a great companion for her new family that needs a friend to go for walks and give them a cuddle.

CAMBY ADOPTED!

3 years old
Neutered male
Color: B/W with lots of freckles!
Camby was an owner turn-in to the SW Washington shelter (which is jammed-full). They said he chases joggers and kids on bikes... We said, ever hear of a leash or a fence? They said he is fine with the kids but hurts their cats. The experienced Springer-breeder who evaluated him at the shelter found him to be quite normal for a 3 year old untrained, intact male. We took him straight to the Vet for neutering. Foster mom picked him up there and has found him quick to learn and very happy to cuddle. He learned to snooze in a crate when left home alone. He's did great with his foster-sis Sassy.
Camby found the perfect home with a family who had adopted from us before and got Camby to keep their dear boy Bentley company. You can see Bentley on our seniors page. Homes don't get any better than this!

Sugar Adopted!

Age: about 6 years
Gender: Female
Spayed?
Color: Liver/White
Sugar
Sugar was a stray taken in by Saving Grace Animal Shelter in Winchester, OR, (just north of Roseburg). She was in foster care in Mill City, Oregon (east of Salem). She seems to be on the tail end of her kennel cough and is settling in nicely. She is grey in the face but doesn't act as if she's an older dog whatsoever. (My 4 year old is getting grey already) Sugar is full of energy yet calm in the house. She likes to talk to you, how adorable! She's content to be petted as she sits next to you.

Although she's very sweet as her name would suggest, Sugar is now Sophie and happy in her new home.

Lucy Adopted!

About 16 monts old
Spayed
B/W
Portland Oregon
Lucy was turned in to the Mutnomah County shelter as a stray. She's about fifteen months old. She was very shy and frightened in the shelter, so we took her into foster care with a family. We've discovered that she is not comfortable around very active younger children.
Lucy is about as gorgeous as a black and white springer comes-silky black coat, big black nose and soft round puppy eyes. She's in excellent health and is a snuggle bug who can be calm when its required. She rides in cars very nicely and sits quietly when told.
Lucy still has a lot of puppy energy and we looked for a home with people who walk her daily and who preferably don't have a cat. She can jump very high and loves to catch balls and bring them to you. She can entertain herself in her fenced yard by tossing her toys and chasing them. She's smart and a quick learner. She's learned to sit, stay and heel
On the downside, she is still a little slow to warm up to new people. She does not like yelling. More than anything, Lucy is a loving dog who needed a family who has time to walk her and train her. She gets to go to work with her papa.

MEG

Adopted

Age: 8 years
Female
Spayed
L/W

Meg loves to be with people, loves to go on walks.. She walks well on a leash, is good with older kids. The family has a puppy and Meg barely tolerates him; she sometimes worries about stranger-dogs. She has no cat or toddler experience.

Meg is sad when left outside alone and craves family attention which sometimes cannot happen. She loves her new place with someone who is home much of the time and wants a friendly shadow. She found her new home quickly.

Roman

Roman is a sweet young guy, about 4 years old, Both the Vet and his foster family are certain he has some hearing loss. He was pulled from a shelter in the Mid-Willamette Valley in Oregon. He has learned many hand signs in foster care, so it's easy to communicate with him.

Roman is just a big baby. He is his foster dad's shadow. He plays with the grandkids and has fun chasing them around the house. He is very gentle with everyone and he'll snuggle up in a lap to get some petting.

Roman is very good on leash, and doesn't pull at all. We understand it he was one of 4 dogs growing up, so he's fine with other dogs. He is house broken. and is willing now to be crated without an issue.

Roman found a wonderful family who just knew he was the right dog for them.

Petey

Petey is 8 years old. His family signed him over to us; they couldn't take proper care of him, so he's went into foster care with our newest foster parents. We explained that sometimes with an 8 year old boy adoption can take a while.

Well, surprise! One of the families with an interest in Tasha before Christmas spotted Pete's write-up (no photo up yet) and since she only lives a few blocks from the foster family in Portland, it was easy to set up a little meet and greet.

Petey's a big boy, but very sweet, calm, and easy-going. He has his OWN 13 year old boy to love now.

Chester

Portland, OR
Gender: Male
Age: 10 years
Color: Black & White

Chester made his way from the Vancouver Humane Society to a foster home with Oregon Springer rescue. He's incredibly loveable and well-behaved. House trained, rides well in the car, is good around kids and loves to go for walks. He loves playing with other dogs and has the playful energy of a puppy. He's a very energetic boy and loves going on long walks, plus he's very good on a leash. He's absolutely wonderful and loves nothing more than snuggling and getting attention.

It took quite a while for someone to realize what a treasure Chester is. Foster Mom had to travel to the east coast, and substitute family couldn't let him go back! They knew he'd found his home, and flunked fostering with much joy!
