Ellie

December 2006

  • Female
  • Age: 16 months
  • B/W
  • Spayed
  • Show-bred

Ellie is beautiful, black/white with pretty markings. She is 15 months old, housebroken and has been spayed before being placed. She was going to live with her breederand family in the Eureka, California area. She loves people and children and gets along with other dogs in a social situation. However, she just doesn't like her doggie mom.

Ellie found a single dog home with a boy of her own, and a mom with loads of Springer experience.

She ignores cats.

IVY

December 2006

  • Female
  • 10 years old
  • L/W
  • Spayed

Ivy is a 10 year old whose papa is having open heart surgery and whose mama can't care for both Dad and Ivy. Their other dog (not a Springer)was adopted. by a family friend.

Here's a letter from her new family less than a week after the adoption:
Everything is going really well now that the cat has finally accepted the fact that he is no longer an only child. They can even be on the bed at the same time! We had to change her name. Ron kept calling her Sophie. Ivy was just not natural for us. So she is "Missy", she answeres to it already.

She's been having a lot of fun, and she sure likes playing with my niece. We took her shopping at PetSmart, she loved that, we bought her some toys, treats, pretty sparkly pink collar and some Eukanuba lamb and rice food. She likes it alot. Today is going to be another big day for Missy (Ivy). She is going to the puppy day spa for some grooming and on the way home we will take her to PetSmart to shop for her very own bed. I will send you some pics tonight of her with bows in her hair.

She's perfect, we've fallen in love with her already. In a few months we may start looking for a friend for her, we'll see.

Tasha

November 2006

When we picked Tasha up from the shelter in Albany, she had been named "Jane Doe." We guessed it fit a stray, but didn't really fit her! The vet figured that she's about 10 years old.

The foster mom reported that Tasha is a very nice dog. She is fully house broken, loves attention and is good with the other dogs and cats in the house. She's been recently groomed and is all up to date on her vaccinations.

Tasha is a very nice companion for a very lucky soul out there!

Hank November 2006

Hank cames to Oregon Springer Rescue from the Oregon Humane Society. He wasn't at all happy at the shelter, so off to a cushy foster home for him.

Once he was out of the kennel he settled and was comfortable enough to jump up in a lap, we found that he really is a good boy. He's great with other dogs, but a little to curious about cats   He's also fine with older, dog respectful kids.

He's house broken and rides well in the car. And he's got some great tricks up his sleeve... he can sit, shake, lay down, stay, speak...he's such a good boy!

Hank found his forever home just before Thanksgiving, 2006. And he says, THANKS!

Beebop/Harley

October 2006

  • Gender: Male
  • Age: Young
  • Color: Liver & White
BeeBop/Harley came to us as a stray. He was super interested in chasing squirrels and C@s. He was recently neutered before moving to an island in Alaska. This guy has a great nose and shows a strong instinct for working birds and could make a great bird dog. Since he is unreliable off lead, his new family takes him to a little island nearby where he can run himself silly; then he comes home for a good snooze.
Bebe
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 3
  • Color: Black & White
Bebe is happy to be out of the shelter and in his forever home.  He's easy going and has settled right in. In his first afternoon in foster care while the family worked outside in the yard, the neighborhood children came over and Bebe played for a long time with them until he was worn out.  He's a sweet and gentle guy.

Boliver
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 2
  • Neutered & UTD on Shots
  • Color: black/white
Boliver is a sweet guy that loves affection. He loves to be petted, and follows his new mom where ever she goes. When around cats he seems to ignore them if they don't run.  If they run, he will give chase but doesn't show signs of being aggressive with them. Small children are unknown but he is around (and now living with) teen age children and doing fine. He's not a barker. He loves his forever home.

Minnow (Minnie for short) - ADOPTED
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: ~8
  • Neutered
  • Color: liver/white

Minnow has his few favorite toys that he rotates through; he doesn't play with them, but just carries them around.  Every once in a while, he gets lucky and he sneaks one outside so it can get dirty and wet and stinky and he can retrieve it later when it smells "better."  That is then his new favorite toy to carry around.
He also has this cute body wiggle he does when his family comes home-- it's funny because he's just a big hairy sausage so he doesn't "wiggle" as much as he swings his butt into whatever's around.
I've also started letting him sleep on my bed at night.  It didn't take him long to get used to that. As long as he's got his back against some part of me, he's perfectly content.

Precious - ADOPTED

Precious is the perfect name for this perfect dog! Precious is a 10 year old spayed female English Springer Spaniel whose heart just broke when her family brought her to the shelter.

Precious was adopted by a longtime foster mom who just needed another inside family dog who is housebroken and well-behaved. She lives with other dogs and cats with no problems... oh, and pigmy goats, a rescue donkey and a rescue pony. She has been with kids of all ages and is said to protective of her home and family.

Navaho - Adopted June 2006
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 12
Navajo is a 12 year old spayed female liver and white English Springer Spaniel. She is housetrained and well-behaved. She's on daily medication for spay incontinence (luckily the medication is very inexpensive). Navajo is social and friendly with everyone including other dogs, cats she has lived with, and even horses. She has lived with children of all ages and said to be loving and kind with them. Navajo's favorite things in life are car rides, swimming, food, and being petted.

Scarlet - Adopted June 2006
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: ~2

Scarlet is an absolute doll. She's young and has all the energy that comes with youth. She's also incredibly affectionate and loves to snuggle up with her mom and bury her head in mom's lap. Have any toys? Great! This girl is getting a kick out of all the dog toys she get to play with now. She'll play with anything, but tennis balls seem to be a favorite as she has dutifully found every tennis ball that her foster brother ever managed to loose.

She's also the quite the looker. Her weight is very healthy and she has incredibly silky-soft fur. And a full tail that never seems to stop wagging.

Scarlet has gone to the dog park and enjoyed sniffing around and playing with other dogs. Even better is that she is incredibly easy to walk - no pulling on the leash at all and she kept the same walking pace as her foster mom. She appears to be house broken and has taken very well to being crate trained.

Roscoe - Adopted June 2006
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 5

Roscoe is a big (68 pounds), sweet, quiet, gentle 5 year old liver and white springer.  He is a GREAT DOG!  He loves carrying a ball in his mouth, swimming and diving for rocks.  He likes to find a shady spot in the garden and watch his mom pull weeds.  He is not afraid to ask for a tummy rub when he needs one, and he gives great big wet sloppy kisses (frequently).  He's also really smart.
Roscoe was an outdoor dog at his first home.  He's catching on to house manners and takes gentle correction very easily.  He settles with just a little encouragement and likes to sleep under the bed.  He loves people.

Roscoe ended up at the shelter because he dug out of his new backyard when his family moved to a new home.  He didn't have any trouble staying in the backyard at his old house and he hasn't had any trouble staying in the backyard of his new home.
The vet gives him a clean bill of health.  He is pretty good on a leash (and will be terrific once  someone works with him.)  He is not aggressive around food.  He's got a great personality.

Sweetie - Adopted March 2006
  • Female
  • Spayed
  • Age: Young Adult, Maybe 4
Sweetie is just that, a very lucky sweetheart. She was found running loose near I-205 in Portland. The people that found her took her in and tried to find her owners but where unable to. As they already have two dogs of their own they can't keep her and so they've asked Oregon Springer Rescue to help them find her a new forever home.
She currently spends most of her time outside where she is very mellow and quiet, very rarely ever barking. She's great with kids and other dogs (she's currently living with two small terrier mixes). She loves riding in the car and is good on a leash. Her current caretakers say she is happy, playful and fetches pretty well. Not to mention she LOVES squeak toys and belly rubs. At 70 pounds she could probably stand to loose a few pounds, so if you're looking for an exercise partner, Sweetie could be the one for you!

Willy - Adopted February 2006
  • Male
  • Neutered
  • Liver/White
  • 2 years young
Introducing the wonderful Willy! He is so well trained it's hard to believe! He sits on command, shakes paws, doesn't pull on lead, heels and is otherwise delightful.

He does have some morning allergic reactions...sneezes and wheezes for about 10 min in the morning than is fine...probably a dust allergy.

Willy is now happily settling into his new forever home in Canada!
Lilly - Adopted February 2006
  • Female
  • Spayed
  • Black/White
  • young
  • Special Needs
Lilly came from the kind folks at the Kalamth Falls shelter. She's a real sweetie and has won the hearts of everyone there. She is a special needs dogs. She has had problems with seizures, but now she's at the shelter and on proper seizure meds. Since she started the meds the staff at the shelter don't believe she's had any seizures, which is good because it means that her seizures will be easily controlled and won't stop her from having a long life of stealing the hearts of all she meets.

Jody - Adopted January 2006

Jody and his 9 year old brother's owner had a terminal condition. A friend agreed to oversee placing the boys, and Oregon Springer Rescue took them in.

They had lived as an out-door only dog until they got to their foster mom's house. She worked on teaching them house manners and they have been very eager to learn and easy to teach (they took to crate training and house breaking very well). As you can see by the picture, they love being indoor doggies, especially since there are so many warm, soft resting places! They've got some of the softest coats the foster mom has ever felt and they are both very affectionate and soakes up any love you've got to give. They are up to date on on vaccinations.

Romeo - Adopted! January 2006
  • Male
  • Black/White
  • 8 years young
Romeo was released to rescue when his vet refused to put him down. He is recovering from skin problems caused by neglect/flea allergy. He'll make a full recovery but he will have to stay on a restrictive diet for the rest of his life. He is about 8 years old, neutered, and a real love. He is black and white with a full tail. The Bush Animal Clinic in Eugene should receive a medal for all the time and effort they put into this boy.

Despite the horrid condition his previous owners had him in, he still loves people with every ounce of his heart and wants nothing more than to be close to his human. He definitely lives up to his name and is quite the little lover. He's very affectionate and loves to snuggle and be the center of attention. At his foster home he liked being the "dominant dog," which really just involved humping his foster brother (who luckily doesn't care).

He recently went on a hike with his foster mom and foster brother and did wonderfully. He hiked several miles along the Eagle Creek trail in the Gorge and loved every minute of it (except the bath he needed when they got home). He is very gentle and has wonderful house manners. He learned the rules of the foster home very quickly and minded his foster mom very well.
Finney - Adopted! January 2006
  • Male
  • 12 years young
Finney, short for Finnegan, is a male estimated to be 12 yrs old, but if you meet this spunky little senior you'll probably be as skeptical as we are about his age. He acts a lot younger. He's quite small with field springer characteristics and has a sweet disposition. His human companion developed serious health problems and had to let Finney and his house mate go. His housemate found a home, but it took a little longer for Finney to find his place where he is loved, walked and looked after. He's very calm and good around kids.
