Timber

Neutered l/w, Timber was pulled from the Multnomah County Shelter & was in foster care for a few weeks. He is very people oriented and is calm around other dogs. He is a relatively short dog. He will probably weigh under 40 lbs when he looses some of his extra pounds.

He's very happy in his new home. Mom wanted a dog that was "middle age like me."

Sadie

Sadie needed a home where she can be the only dog. She's a good natured, velcro dog who loves to spend time with her family but isn't good with other dogs in the home.

Sadie was pulled from the Heartland shelter in Corvallis, OR.

Sadie's heart is strong and she's in excellent health. She's about 8 years old. She's spayed (found the scar), friendly, gives good kisses. She's unknown with little kids but leaves cats alone.

Sadie's new mom is a teacher, and she'll have a dad and a human big brother, too.

Jake

!

Jake was a 13 year old turn-in. His owner died and the folks he was left with can no longer keep him. He's a handsome l/w guy in excellent shape and he has lots of love to give the right family!

Isn't he personality plus? He's ready to play in this picture! We were so pleased that his new family requested an older dog!

Tasha

Tasha is liver and white, about 7 years old, very sweet. She lived with pitbulls for the last 7 months. She rides in a car just fine....is a product of a divorce....used to have a springer friend and was very depressed to be separated.

The pitbulls' owner was to watch her for 1 month-then 2-- then the guy never came back to get her. She was matted etc. The pitbull's owner is only allowed 2 dogs, but had 3 plus Tasha so Tasha had to go. We pulled her from the Salem, OR shelter.

You can see that now she's living the good life!

Trooper

This 3-4 year old b/w boy is a stray. He's in foster care in the Eugene, OR area.

Foster mom says, "He is a wonderful dog in the kennel and in the house. He wants to chase the cats, but since they are outside it is not a problem. I wouldn't have him in a cat household at this point.

"He is a beautiful dog and is the best behaved dog in our household. He is very loving and likes to play. Probably 3-4 years old. No accidents in the house and is crate trained. He is quiet, except when he gets excited (he sees a cat, I come home, etc.) and then he is very loud. I can't think of a better dog to place in a great home."

Penny

Penny was originally bought into the St. Helens, OR shelter as a stray. She was adopted but was returned because she has stress separation issues. Penny needs to be in a home where someone is home a lot of the time and can give her attention and company. She is NOT noisy or destructive. Penny gets along with other dogs and doesn't take much notice of cats. We think she is about 5 years old.

Penny is already house trained and prefers to be inside. However, she's been fine outside during the day with the other dogs at the foster mom's place. She's a very nice dog that will be a great addition to somebody's home.

Baron

Adopted May 31, 2003

From his new family:

Baron spent most of his life as an indoor only dog. He is so sweet, super loving and learning manners and obiedence. He knows sit, down, out of the kitchen, go lie down. He is very well behaved. He is an awesome dog. He has never been destructive when left alone (and he's left to wander freely in the house).
He's fine with cats, older kids, other dogs. He's in a home with a family that likes to walk and hike.

Missy

Adopted

Missy is a 6 year old, very pretty girl who was picked up as a stray in Multnomah County. She is happy in her new home, goes everywhere with Mom, and is quickly realizing that she's home to stay. Isn't she pretty?

Trevor

Adopted 3/30/2003

Trevor is a young, field-bred, neutered guy who was moved from Clatsop County to foster care.

Quiet, eager and friendly, Trevor loves to be in the center of family activities and with consistent training, he will be a handsome and devoted companion.

His new dad is looking forward to running and hunting with Trevor. And Trevor will have a buddy to spend some of his time with.

Brodie

Owner Referral Adopted 3/30/2003

Brodie is a 9 month old neutered liver/white boy. He is healthy, current with vaccinations, housebroken and crate-trained. He plays too hard to be good with toddlers, and is too interested in the family cats, who will NOT play with him! He has had puppy obedience, but needs more training. He can walk on a leash and sit when they stop.

Brodie is an awesome dog, exeptionally loving and cuddly. He loves to be petted and take naps with us. He is one happy guy, eager to do anything we're doing. He likes to play "chase", whether it's a ball we throw or a shoe he steals.

Brodie now has a buddy, coincidentaly ALSO named Brodie (dunno if they'll be #1 & #2 or if somebody will get a new name) and a family that has more time to train.

Benny

Adopted March 15, 2003

Benny is a young neutered l/w male that we pulled from the Heartland shelter in Corvallis OR to a foster home near Salem. At the shelter, he had some issues with one of the men.

In foster care, they told us: "He is a HOUSEDOG. Sitting in Tyler's (teenage son) lap to watch TV is one of his favorite things. Tyler thinks that he is the best male that has been here."

Benny found his forever home with a NE Portland couple. They say, "We absolutely love him. He acts like he's lived with us forever. A bath and a new dog bed did wonders for him. We're excited to get to know him better."

Watch for him playing in Grant Partk!

Bentley

Adopted

Bentley, who is 11 years old, was a huge hit at the Salem shelter, but sometimes older guys are hard to place. The shelter workers said he is exceptionally sweet and easy going.

As soon as his picture went up on our website, a couple who had adopted HENRY from us about 2 years ago saw him, went to Salem, OR, and brought him home.

You can see their own special page at http://www.wvessa.org/Rescue/senior2.html
