PrincessJanuary, 2003 Princess was adopted in the fall of 2002 and was our representative that year at the all breed RESCUE PARADE as a part of the Rose City Cluster of dog shows. She has changed from being a shy, unsure girl to a runway model. She was unfazed by the crowds and applause, graciously taking her goody bag and having a nice trip around the big ring. Thanks for bringing her in, you guys! Princess came from the Oregon Humane Society. She was a pretty 3 year old spayed b/w female. She is crate trained, smiles, can sit on command, barks to come in the house, tolerates the other dogs...it only took a strong NO to get her not to chase the other dogs, She is a velcro dog and submissive, It took about a week for her to feel at home (longer than average for a Springer), but she acts like a normal Springer now. She just needed some adjustment time. She does come when called--especially if it's to come in. She is very good in a crate. She chases the ball and is learning to play. She is getting attached to the 10-year-old son. Probably best with older kids, not alone too much. She was rescued because she just HID at the Humane Society and nobody could see what a good and pretty girl she is.

BabeADOPTED 6/22 Babe is an almost six-year-old spayed girl out of field lines. She is mostly white with brown markings. She is referred through us because of the death of her owner. Babe has been successful in her obedience classes, but missesher owner. She loves to play, is fine with kids (but hasn't lived with them) and other dogs, unknown with cats, and lives to retrieve her tennis ball. Throw it for her and she's your best friend! She has not been hunted but has a high interest in birds. Babe has had a couple of seizures in the last year and is being successfully controlled with phenobarbital. |

TimothyAdoptedTim is a happy "foundling." Timothy is a 7-8 year old l/w male . He is VERY playful, especially with a blue racquet-ball! He hops up on the table to be groomed and is patient through the whole ordeal His ears are healthy despite being clogged with hair until grooming. He's found his family now. He's made the adjustment, and their vet thinks he's quite a bit younger than the shelter thought. He plays hard and happily all day, just like a puppy! |

Tootsie then... straight from the shelter! |
Maggie<Cassie<TootsieADOPTED May 3, 2002Maggie, naturally stocky, is now a fit and muscular 50 lbs (which is at least 12 lbs. less than her first picture). Karen and Maggie are walking 5 miles/day on a great "off leash" trail near our house. Along the way, Maggie often finds tennis balls: her record is 6 balls on one walk. On the weekends, we go hiking: Maggie is so joyous when she's on a trail in the wilderness. Maggie also loves doing mundane human things: going to Home Depot, garden nurseries, u-pick veggie farm, Karen's office at college, and PetSmart. After 3 1/2 months, we're still seeing daily changes in Maggie. Each new day makes her a little calmer around strangers, better with the doggie commands that we are learning, and more confident. Over the last few weeks she has even displayed totally uninhibited excitement and exuberance just because we are all together! It's clear that Maggie, Karen and David have bonded well and that Maggie has definitely found her "forever" home. |

GeorgeAdopted!!George is a very special guy. He needed to find a home because his family is having health problems that make it impossible to continue to care for him much longer. George is a neutered l/w male. He is a couch potato who loves his family, and they love him back. But sometimes, life doesn't cooperate. They found a good home for him with kids to love. George is wonderful with other dogs and with kids, including his owner's 2 1/2 year old grandchild. He tolerates it all. He's never lived with a cat, and is very animated when they take off when he's on a walk. George is 9 years old.

WinstonShelter pull has new home!Winston is a 4 year old neutered l/w male who is handsomely marked; he has long sleeves on every leg. He is WAY overweight and on a diet. He was pulled from the Clackamas shelter and did great with the two young neutered males at the foster home. He is very animated when promised a walk, and OH BOY CAR RIDE!!! He loves people, and he went home with a couple in SW Washington who've found him the exact right place to swim to help him lose weight. |

RobinShelter Pull to Foster care to Forever Family!Robin had been in foster care in Eastern Oregon and came to the Willamette Valley where people can appreciate her sweet nature. She's spayed, active, sweet and great with other dogs and cats. She found a great home with a young Lab... they'll give each other plenty of exercise! |
BeBePulled 3/19 from the Clackamas County Shelter, his foster mom named him BeBe for Beautiful Boy. He was fine with her other dogs. He's very, very sweet and beautiful. 5 years old, neutered, quiet. He is now in a home with an adult family. He'll get to go boating in the summer! |
|
BuddyAdopted 3/1 Buddy is a young (6 months or so) neutered male at the Oregon Humane Society on Columbia Blvd in Portland. Housebroken. Up to date on shots. He is loving, playful, and sweet. He is good with kids, somewhat submissive, but does not seem fearful. He relaxes in a hurry and loves to cuddle. Good with cats but he will chase if they'll run. He needs to be crate trained until he is reliable about not chewing things up in the house. His new dad was looking for a dog older than a puppy, preferred a female. But we called him up and said GET OVER THERE QUICK!! He met Buddy and that was that! They go for walks and play ball and are having a great time!

Maggie MaeOwner Referral Maggie Mae is an older white and liver spayed girl whose owner died. She is currently living with one of her owner's sons, but they have no fenced yard and Maggie is on a tie-out all day. She is NOT HAPPY tied out, even with another dog to keep her company. Maggie is good with kids and cats, is good in the house and on a leash. But she barks when left alone outside and would be best in a home around people. She's a little hard of hearing. Maggie went to her new home quickly, and is happily swimming and playing with her new sis Belle.

BeccaThe Beautiful Becca is much loved by her previous family, but couldn't get along with their other Springer. After trying everything, they realized it just wasn't safe for either of the dogs, and decided to place one of them. Becca was chosen first, and now lives with a wonderful family in rural Oregon. They tell us: "Becca is doing so great! I think she's adjusting really well, she seems really comfortable & is so affectionate with all of us. She & Oscar (our cat) weren't too sure of each other for a while, but now they're buddies, it's really cute!" We're hoping for a new picture with the kids or with Oscar. |

CooperCooner is a 4 year old male who has had some big changes in just a few weeks. His family was called to active duty in Colorado, so he's gone from running on eleven acres in rural Oregon to a large city yard in Portland. He's moved from being on a tie-out part of the time to being mostly a house dog that goes for walks. He's been neutered and groomed, and we're hoping will put on some weight. So far, so good. We're waiting for an "after" photo to compare. |
SamAdopted 12/4 Sam is a 4 year old l/w neutered male. He was pulled from the Salem shelter and went into foster care. He's good with kids, other dogs, unknown with cats. He loves being with people and getting attention. We're so sneaky! We had a new foster home and we THOUGHT he'd be a great match with these people. Sure enough, a little stay and he's found his forever home! And they never turn us down if we ask them to foster a nice dog who will be sweet to sweet Sam!

Sherlock Sherlock was listed for the Idaho Humane Society. He
is a nice size for a walking companion! He is housebroken and
has a medium energy level. Sherlock is leash trained and will
sit on command and lay down for a treat. An obedience class would
be a fun activity and a great place to make new friends! This
gentle, loving boy would be a great choice for a family who likes
the breed, but doesn’t want to raise a puppy! “Sherlock” would
prefer to be the only male dog in his new home. |
